Wellness Warrior Foundation to Provide Water Filtration Units and Raise the Roof in Puerto Rico

COMPANY RELEASE:  April 17, 2018

OAK ISLAND, North Carolina – April 17, 2018 – Wellness Warrior Foundation has announced they will be sending a team of volunteers to Puerto Rico, mid-May 2018 to aid in disaster relief efforts as a result of the devastating aftermath of Hurricane Maria that took place almost seven months ago.

Successful fundraising efforts allow Wellness Warrior Foundation to purchase both a LifeStraw Community Water Filtration System as well as a LifeStraw Mission Water Filtration.  These units will be shipped to OpenWorld Relief who are strategically positioned in Rio Grande, Puerto Rico and will distribute the filtration units to families and volunteers in need.  These products will provide clean drinking water in remote areas where water has been contaminated since September 2017.

In addition to providing clean water options to those in need in Puerto Rico, Wellness Warrior Foundation will also be repairing the roof and structure on a property in Vieques, Puerto Rico that was damaged by Hurricane Maria.  This property will serve as a future Wellness Warrior apothecary and training facility with future internship opportunities for individuals with a desire to learn herbal medicines and sustainability.

LifeStraw offers specific products for international health and development as well as products sold to consumers for outdoor recreation, travel and daily hydration.

About OpenWorld Relief

OpenWorld Relief is a (pending) 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that is focused on the empowerment of local communities that have been impacted by natural disaster.  Located in Rio Grande, Puerto Rico, OpenWorld Relief formed just prior to Hurricane Maria making landfall as a way to get ourselves and volunteers down to the island immediately following the storm and help. During this initial push, we built strong relationships with local government, local leaders, business owners, as well as large response organizations such as the Army, National Guard, FEMA, Universities, and the Red Cross. We now use these relationships to determine the most impactful missions on a daily basis and begin to have an impact while gathering information and knowledge that would shape our long-term mission on the island.  Learn more about what we do at https://OpenWorldRelief.org
